I was surprised at how easy and fun this activity was! One of my girls had made a goal to learn to do cute handwriting, so I thought a lettering activity would be good to assist her. However, it sounded a little bland that way, in my opinion. Once I added the blessed “poster” aspect to it, it made the activity sound out-of-the-ordinary and the girls really enjoyed it. I did too!
Here’s how we did it:
Materials
- Posterboard (super cheap at a dollar store–ours was 50 cents each)
- Markers
- Paper for practicing first
Before the Meeting
- Reminders (just simple texts for this one)
- Drop off a poster to each girl (or have them provide their own)
Meeting Agenda
- Article of Faith, scripture, YW Theme (your choice)
- Opening Prayer
- Show lettering examples (you can use my Pinterest board if you want)
- Tell the girls to choose a phrase and a lettering they like
- Have the girls practice on their scratch paper
- Once they feel ready and practiced, they can start working on their poster
- Have everyone show their posters
- Closing Prayer
