YW Theme Necklace

I think this YW theme necklace would look awesome on brightly designed, colored paper.  Love this idea.
You do this for a YW Girls Camp craft, and put your camp theme on it. Another alternative would be to use it for a YW Theme craft. It could also be great for any activity night (Young Women’s or Primary) to go with your topic of the night.
 Directions below….

MaterialsNecklace chains
Clear plastic “charms”
Jump rings (the round connectors between the necklace and charms)
Printed text
Glue (Mod Podge or glue mixture)
Pliers (if the jump rings aren’t attached to your charms already)

Directions

1.  Buy your desired chains and plastic pieces.  (You can either get ones where you slide the paper in between two pieces of plastic, or you can get the kind that are just one piece of plastic and you glue the paper on the back then Mod Podge it on the back.)

2.  Measure your plastic so you know how much space you have to work with when you type the text.
3.  Type the text you want on the computer, staying within your size guidelines.  One easy way to do this is to change your margins to only allow the size you need, or you can just watch the ruler and make sure you’re within your size limits.  You can also just print and measure, then modify.
4.  Print your final text.
5.  Slide the print-out into the plastic charm.  Or if it’s not the slide-in type of charm, affix the text to the back of the plastic with Mod Podge and then apply Mod Podge over the entire back to protect the paper from moisture.6.  If your charms didn’t come with the jump rings attached, attach the jump rings to the plastic pieces, using your pliers to open and close the rings.  Let me know if you have questions about that.

*I would probably suggest having a few people ready with pliers to help any girls who can’t get the jump rings to open and close. 🙂
Done.  Now you have a YW theme necklace!
I love how quick and easy of a YW theme craft this is, yet it’s so cute and meaningful.  If you use this for a girls camp craft or a young women theme craft, etc., let me know!  I’d love to hear and see how it goes.
