For anyone who has suffered with a child who goes astray, Lehi is a calm reminder that all one can do is his or her best when it comes to parenting. Lehi appears to have been a good parent. He suffered long, taught his children correct principles and let them choose for themselves.
Unfortunately for Lehi, and modern parents too, sometimes children don’t choose to do what we’d like them to do. In fact, they can choose to do the opposite!
I always think of Lehi when I am struggling with a child or when I am tempted to judge someone who is getting poor results with a child. If a prophet of God could have these types of issues, it’s okay that we sometimes do too.
