Ideas
1. I love the idea of motivating the girls to work on their Personal Progress by telling them, “Once we pass off this experience, we’ll make t-shirts to celebrate our progress! This motivator would work best if they get to make the t-shirts the same night they do the Personal Progress experience.
2. If your ward does girls camp t-shirts, this is a much less expensive option than almost anything I’ve seen. It even beats tie-dye in price! I also love that it lets you put your theme on the shirt so easily and inexpensively.
3. If your ward is extremely tight on budget, yet you want to do t-shirts, you can ask the girls if they have old t-shirts they want to do bleach art on. Then, you should have no cost for this easy YW craft.
There are two ways to do bleach art: stamped or squeezed. I’ve included directions for each method separately below.
Stamped Bleach Art
Bleach Water Solution:
Directions:
2. Dip your stamp or cookie cutter in the bleach mixture and stamp the shirt.
3. Allow shirt to dry.
Easy, huh? A few other ideas:
*Another great idea is to put the bleach solution in toy squirt guns–quick, fun and cheap way to let lots of girls do their shirts at once (assuming you can trust them not to go crazy–I’d definitely have them wear clothes they don’t care about and I’d do this outside with lots of supervision, depending on how crazy your girls get).
Squeeze Bleach Art
For squeeze bleach art, you can make a bleach solution to squeeze from a bottle and freehand designs or letters.
Squeeze Gel Solution Ingredients:
3/4 cup water
3 Tbsp corn starch
4-7 Tbsp household bleach
Directions:
- Put 3/4 cup water and 3 T corn starch in pot.
- Boil until the mixture is the consistency of pudding.
- Add bleach 1 teaspoon at a time until you get the gel consistency you prefer.
That’s it: two options and they’re both easy and cute! Have fun and let me know if you try it for girls camp or a YW personal progress activity!
